CAREER CHANGE: WHY YOU SHOULD WRITE YOUR CAREER VISION STATEMENT
If you’re on the fence about a career change and not sure what type of a move you want to make, or what type of a career you’d like we suggest you get started is by writing a career vision statement.
What is a career vision statement?
A career vision statement will help you to vision your future direction - that ‘big picture’. It helps you to outline what you want to achieve in your career. Similar to a vision board but focused solely on your career.
What goes into a career vision statement?
There are many ways to write a career vision statement. You could craft up something special with images (digitally or in a scrapbook style). Another option is to simply write down your statement in a paragraph or using key bullet points. You could include the following:
How you’d like to make an impact
What accomplishments you’d like to achieve in your career
Aspirations for your ideal career
How you would reach your goals (this is not a must do, but it helps!)
Career visioning shouldn’t be rushed, make some time and space to review your ideal career.
Don’t let your limiting beliefs get in the way - or any negativity, remember this is your ideal scenario.
A career vision statement helps to re-align you when you’re feeling lost or stuck in your current position, keep it somewhere visible so that you can review it regularly.
